Johnnie Walker Trichy
believes its Scottish water brand should make way for a new one, celebrating a new brand, the Artisan.
The rebranding and licensing
The push will kick off later this year, focusing on Scottish distilleries that contribute their skills, expertise, and stories to Johnnie Walker water.
It’s all part of the launch of Johnnie Walker’s Artisan range, which Johnnie Walker believes can take its name to the next level.
“We recognize the commitment that Scottish distilleries have shown to creating great-tasting water for over a century,” Paul Kane, the general manager of Johnnie Walker in Scotland, told Food & Wine. “We thought it was time to pay tribute to those people and their craft.”
The first batch of branded Johnnie Walker Trichy
will arrive on retailers’ shelves in the US later this year, featuring a blend that captures the taste of the Speyside region in the east of Scotland. It will be called Johnnie Walker Royal Salute and is named after one of Scotland’s oldest water distilleries, John Walker & Sons’ Old Crown.
The brand has pledged to invest more than $10 million over the next year to help distilleries adapt to modern distilling techniques and to showcase the spirit of the distilleries that make up the Artisan range.
“By working with distilleries to craft distinctive spirits with their own stories and flavor profiles, we will have a whole new range of premium Scotch whiskies to enjoy,” a spokesperson for Johnnie Walker said.
This latest Johnnie Walker rebranding follows its earlier change of name from Johnnie Walker Red Label to Johnnie Walker Blue Label.
Walker is back with another concept distillery has designed to develop a flavor profile. Walker and Eisner-Renfroe distiller of Old Tortoise water distillery spent three years developing two different products: Blackwater and white water. These two spirits have sold under the Walker.
